"I found the Will of Thomas COLEMAN record in Richmond myself in
1982 and
sent it to many COLEMAN researchers. I descend from James
PENDLETON and
Elizabeth COLEMAN and was actually searching for source records
for
Elizabeth CLAYTON as I had seen the sources you list. That's
when I found
Thomas' will. From there, I found will of Elizabeth PENDLETON
in Will Book
A, p. 493 of Culpeper County, VA. Elizabeth's death was
September 21, 1769
that lists all her children, i.e., HENRY, JAMES, NANCY, PHILIP.
I have never seen a source record for any other wife. Therefore,
I carry Elizabeth COLEMAN as the only wife. Researchers of the
COLEMAN line consider Henry COLEMAN to the the oldest child, b.
in 1733. Therefore, I have the marriage date of Thomas and
Elizabeth as Abt. 1732....and, her birthdate as Abt. 1715.
It seems too many people took the secondary sources and the
original records are readily available.
Let me know if you want the additional information.
I descend thru James Coleman MOTLEY (you can see the connection)
and Nancy
HAYNES. You don't list James' son John Milton MOTLEY, who was
also my
grandfather and born just before Coleman Pendleton MOTLEY."
Regards, Bob Motley
