Court House with Cathryn Mullins, and the Co. Judge, in 1935.
If you know any of these people please write Nancy or the webmaster with your information.
Carlis, my mother's name was Hilda L. Lanham,
RN. I have a lovely gold, inlaid bracelet given to her "In Appreciation
of Public Health Service, Adair County, 1934-1937".
The picture of the Hamlett baby is bad,
but maybe someone could identify who the baby is. I have no idea who Dorothy
is. The other pictures should be of some interest.
The name Bird (Johnson ?) still rings
a bell with me..........maybe it's nothing. I know she had a close friend
there.
I found a newspaper clipping of my parents
engagement announcement stating" Miss Lanham has been connected with the
Adair County Health Department for the past three years and is very popular
in the town and county. Mr. Mason (Malcolm Mason,my dad) was stationed
here several years ago when in the employ of the State Highway Department
and is well-known in Columbia". This article must have been in one of your
newspapers because it states that Dad "was stationed here". They married
in November, 1937, if that helps. Wonder if you can go back and find these
old articles?
Also have a Western Union Congratulations,
Columbia KY, dated Nov. 24, 1937, from Sara, Joe, Kate and Dock. Is that
familiar to you?
They lived in Louisville for a while after
their marriage, moved to Frankfort, then to Lexington in 1945. Dad was
manager of James E. Pepper Distillery from 1945 - 1954, when he became
Claims Manager for Kentucky Utilities CO, a position he held until his
retirement in 1975. They had a vacation home at Russell Springs on Lake
Cumberland and moved there permanently when Mother had a terminal illness.
She passed away, July 13, 1976 at a nursing home in Jamestown. Seems like
she came full circle.
Well, if I come up with anything else,
will let you know.
Take care and hope you can find at least
2 of the pictures, of some interest.
Thanks,
Nancy Gentry
