THE OLD FAMILIES OF SALISBURY AND AMESBURY, MA, by David W. Hoyt,  pages 49 & 50.
Of Salisbury and Amesbury, "planter" or "husbandman," received land in the "first division," 1640, and 1642: was one of the first settlers of Amesbury, received land there at various times, and a "township" for one of his sons in 1660. His name appears on nearly all the early lists, down to 1672. He was killed by Indians about 1677.

NEW ENGLAND FAMILIES, RI Edition, page 42, 43.
Was born in England about 1612. In the year 1640 he is found of residence in Salisbury, MA, and later he bought land on the west side of the Powow River (now in Amesbury) and removed thither. In 1659 he joined in one of the most historic transactions preserved in New England history. In that year he entered with others in the purchase of the Island of Nantucket, and acquired there large land holdings. Later, he transferred one-half of his Nantucket possessions to his brother, Robert Barnard.
He is also cited as one of the "Brethren of Ye Church." Whether he acturally removed to Nantucket and there resided does not deinitely appear; the records of Nantucket simply state that "Thomas Barnard died abroad." This, however, would seem to indicate that he was a resident of Nantucket.
A tragic fate awaited him, he being killed by the Indians in 1677. He married Eleanor ____. She administered upon his estate in 1677, and the inventory was taken 21st of 6th month, 1677. She married (second) George Little, of Newbury, and died November 27, 1694.

3081. Eleanor MORSE died 27 Nov 1694 in Amesbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts.

Wid. Eleanor adm. est. Oct., 1677. Wid. "Elenor Barnard," in settling her husband's estate, appeared in court with "four of her sons," in 1678. Probably one or more were sons-in-law. There were nine children when the estate was divided in 1679.

THE PEASLEES AND OTHERS OF HAVERHILL AND VICINITY, by E. A. Kimball, page 6
From Coffin, the historian of Newbury, we learn that Joseph Peasley was "an early settler of that town; that his daughter Sarah was born Sept. 9, 1642, and that he died in Amesbury, Dec. 3, 1660." From Chase, in The History of Haverhill, we obtain the additional information that "he came from England; was in Haverhill before 1646; was made a freeman June 22, 1642, and that he removed to Salisbury, where he died."
Miss Johnson of Oak Knoll, Danvers, is authority for the statement that Joseph Pealsey married, in Wales, Mary Johnson, the daughter of a farmer possessed of considerable worldly estate; that the couple came to this country at about the same time as Edmund Johnson, who left England in 1635, and with his wife Mary was in Hampton, NH, in 1639.

3083. Mary JOHNSON was born in Wales. She died 3 Dec 1660 in Salisbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts. [Parents]

All ye Estate which God hath given me I doe give to my wife for to be hers as long as she is a widow, and so remainds; but if she shall marry, then to divide it into three parts; and two parts to be divided among my children, and the third to be hers. I doe by this will give power to these two my two friends herein mentioned, namely William Neadam and Tho. Foster, to take the care and oversight of all this my estate for my wife and children good, according to your best wisdom to be ordered.
    dated the 10th, 2d month, 1654.
The Probate records show that administration was granted to Grisell, widow of Thomas Jewell, July 21, 1654; but on the 5th Oct. 1655, she being about to marry Humphrey Griggs, William Needham and Thomas Foster above named, were appointed executors (probably "de bonis non.") Griggs agreed to bring up Jewell's children, of which there were several, both sons and daughters, and all under age. She was soon left again a widow; as administration was granted to Grisell Griggs, on the estate of her late husband Humphrey Griggs, August 18, 1657.
