Emeline married Jonathan WHEELER on 3 Feb 1841 in Richfield, Otsego Co., New York. Jonathan died 5 Sep 1893 in Lake Geneva, New York.

1307. Oliver Butler BROWN (Oliver , Asa , Ichabod , John , Thomas ) was born 6 Feb 1801 in Brookfield, Madison Co., New York. He died 3 Apr 1873 in Edgerton, Wisconsin.

   They lived in Bridgewater, NY. He was a General in the New York militia; was a tall, fine-looking man, very reserved, and held himself aloof from all. He was a noted singer and for many years the leader of the church choir. He lived for a time at Rochester, Minnasota, and in his later years lived in Edgerton, Wisconsin, where he is buried. His wife died in Denver, Colorado, and is buried in Edgerton.

Oliver married Fanny SKEELE. Fanny was born in Hamilton, New York. She died 23 Jul 1886 in Denver, Colorado.

1308. Almiron BROWN (Oliver , Asa , Ichabod , John , Thomas ) was born 20 Dec 1802 in Brookfield, Madison Co., New York. He died 4 Mar 1885 in Hull Prairie, Ohio.

    He settled on a farm in Brookfield, NY. He became converted after his first child was born, and felt that he must preach the gospel, but all the family opposed it except his wife. After a long struggle he sold his stock and farming-utensils and went to Hamilton, where he entered the Theological Seminary there, supporting his family by working a farm, studying in the meantime. He graducated in 1836. He then removed to Northern Ohio. Feeling that he was called to preach the gospel to the poor, he settled in Norwalk. His wife keep boarders and he preached to feeble churches and assisted in protracted meetings. Later he moved to New Haven, Ohio; his father sent him a team of horses and a wagon, and he used to haul for merchants from Huron on the lake to New Haven, there being no railroads.
    His wife and daughters bound shoes for two shops to eke out the slender income. He continued to preach to the feeble churches, from whom he received occasional donations. After about six years he was called to be pastor at Monroeville for one year, and here he started a farm, as he wished his sons to be trained to work. After he had been on the farm a month his wife died. Two years afterwards he married again, and his brother Oliver Butler bought a farm of eighty acres at Hull Prairie, where his remaining days were spent. One of his family well qualified to judge says of him, "If the good alone are great, he was a great man; for he was truly one of the best of earth, and his name in all that region is a hallowed memory."

Almiron married (1) Harriet Frary STOW, daughter of Horace STOW and Sarah PACKARD, on 6 Feb 1827 in Bridgewater, New York. Harriet was born 23 Jul 1806 in Chatham, New York. She died Sep 1847 in Monroeville, Ohio.

1313. Charles Fortune BROWN (Oliver , Asa , Ichabod , John , Thomas ) was born 30 Jul 1813 in Brookfield, Madison Co., New York and was christened 20 Mar 1836 in St. Luke's Church, Rochester, New York by Rev. Dr. Whitehouse. He died 1888 in Rochester, New York.

    He was brought up in Bridgewater, NY; prepared for college at Bridgewater Academy; entered Hamilton College Sep, 1831, and graduated 1833; taught three terms in Bridgewater Academy; assisted engineers in laying out railroad from Utica to Herkimer; studied law with Hon. John Ruger in Bridgewater one year, then two years in Rochester with Judge Chapin and General Mathews. He was baptised into St. Luke's Church, Rochester, Mar. 20, 1836, by Rev. Dr. Whitehouse, afterwatds bishop of Illinois, and was confirmed the summer following. He entered the General Theological Seminar of the Protestant Episcopal Church in New York in the fall of 1837; remained three years graduating in 1840; was five years in charge of Grace Church, Waterville, NY; ordained priest Aug. 21, 1842; was for one year a missionary at Peru, Indiana; Rector of Trinity Church, Michigan City, Michigan, four and one-half years; was at Avon, NY, one year; at Delevan, Wis., five and one-half years. After living for a short time at Onondaga Hill, near Syracuse, and at Geddes, he removed in 1878 to Rochester, where he resided until his death.

Charles married (1) Melicent GAYLORD on 8 Jul 1840. Melicent died Jul 1863.

    He began his married life in the house built by his father in the York Settlement, with his mother and his brother David. Later he occupied a new and commodious house west of the Waterman Schoolhouse, where most of his children were born. He was a quiet, unassuming citizen, of good judgement, and of some mechanical skill and inventive genius, and was much respected as a plain, honest, upright man and useful citizen. He was a farmer and a cooper. He and his wife were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

John married Nancy BREED, daughter of Oliver BREED and Grace GREEN, on 9 Mar 1817 in Brookfield, Madison Co., New York. Nancy was born 1799 in Otselic, Chenango Co., New York.
