Chapter 39. Descendants of Margaret "Maggie" Coleman Priddy of Bledsoe County, TN

(852) Margaret "Maggie" Coleman (Priddy) was born 12/12/1879, in Bakewell, TN, grew up fatherless as she was only 3 years old when her father died. She grew up in the Bakewell area and attended school there.

Maggie Coleman married James Burke Priddy on 5/26/1903, in Sale Creek, TN. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. John Ware. Burke was the son of a well known Sale Creek physician of the late 19th and early 20th century, also named James Burke Priddy.

To my knowledge Maggie and Burke always lived in the Bakewell-Sale Creek area. Maggie died on 11/20/1935, at the age of-55 years, 11 months and 8 days. She died at her home in Bakewell and was buried in the Ware Cemetery in Bakewell.

Burke remarried and moved to High Point, GA, on the side of Lookout Mountain. There he remained until his death on 12/21/1949, at the age of 69. He was also buried in the Ware Cemetery, Bakewell

(1115) Mitchell Priddy was born 06/18/1905, in Sale Creek, TN. He grew up in the Bakewell Sale Creek area and married Dorothy Bivens in 1935, in Rossville, GA. Dorothy was born 12/12/1908, in Dade Co., GA. Mitchell and his wife lived in the North Georgia area most of their married lives. Mitchell died 2/?/1972, at the age of 66 years and 8 months. He and Dorothy had 3 children.

(1116) James Burke Priddy was born 02/14/1908, in Sale Creek, TN. He grew up in the Sale Creek-Bakewell area but lived most of his adult life in the Rising Fawn, GA area of Lookout Mountain. He never married and for many years lived on his brother Mitchell's property at Rising Fawn. He died 11/1/1982 at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 17 days. He was buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

(1117) Lewis Thomas Priddy was born 03/7/1920, in Sale Creek, TN. He grew up in the Sale Creek-Bakewell area and later moved to the North Georgia area with his father after the death of his mother when he was 15.

He married Alma Juanita Layne who was born 12/13/1920. They have made their home on Signal Mountain, TN. for a number of years. They have 4 children.
