(613) William 'Wiley' J. Coleman was born to William 'Wiley' and Martha Cobb Coleman of Bibb County, Alabama. Wiley and Martha were early settlers to the Bibb County. Wiley's brother John Coleman was the early Coleman settler to Greene County, Alabama, whose estate came to be known as Grassdale. Wiley and John relocated their families to from Fairfield County, South Carolina to Alabama. Their parents, Charles and Mary Roundtree Coleman followed staying some periods with both sons.
Wiley's birth was recorded in Chapter 22 Colemans of Greene County, Alabama. Wiley J. Coleman married Caroline Virginia Chaney in Jan. 1848. Called Virginia, she signed legal papers C. Virginia, and her husband testified in court her name was Caroline Virginia. C. Virginia Chaney was born 1831 to Caroline and Green Berry Chaney. So, it is easy to see, named after her mother, she became known by her middle name.
