I am a family genealogist and enjoy searching for my Roots. Some of the names I am researching are: NEIGHBOR, BODINE and WEISE from Morris Co., NJ and Bureau Co., IL. Other names are LEIGH, DAVIS and COOK from TN and MO, BLACK and CARVER from Bucks Co., PA.

The earliest Neighbor I have found is Thomas NACHBAR in Oberweiler, Germany, father of Leonard NACHBAR. The name Nachbar was changed to Neighbour in America, and later, some dropped the 'U'.

Leonard NACHBAR arrived at Pennsylvania in the ship "Robert and Alice" from Rotterdam.

I would also like to hear from people with the surname Neighbor who live in or near Merced County, CA. Gilbert and Jesse NEIGHBOR lived there and described the devastation of the San Francisco fire in letters to relatives back home in Princeton, IL.

I am searching for information about my great-great grandparents; Richard LEIGH, born 1836 in TN, place unknown. He was married in 1859 to Mary E GREEN in Carroll Co., TN. Both died in Christian Co., MO.
