BILLY McCLURE FRANKLIN

Billy Franklin, of Mason, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2010, at the age of 80. He was born on July 2, 1930, in Abilene, Texas, to Lucian Virgil Franklin and Lois Dale McClure Franklin. He is a graduate of SMU.

Mr. Franklin enjoyed working with lapidary and rock hunting as well as genealogy. On October 29, 1948, Billy married Cora Nell Looney in Dallas, Texas. He was an auditor for the city of Dallas. Billy did missionary work in Mexico and was an elder in the Church of Christ in Dallas. He lived in Mason for over twenty years and loved his church family.

Mr. Franklin is survived by his wife Cora Franklin of Mason, son George Franklin of Ft. Worth, two daughters, Laurie Fulce and husband Ron of Mason and Kathy Scoggins of Nevada, Texas, one brother Lucian Franklin and wife Frances of Rockville, Maryland. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Crystal Hradecky, Derrick Bird, Kevin Scoggins, Amy Lorrance, Stephanie Tusing, and Heather Scoggins, and eight great-grandchildren: Sam Pollard, Trenton Bird, Cora Bird, Havilah Bird, Elisha Bird, Corey Tusing, Quinn Scoggins, and Conner Scoggins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ building with burial following at Gooch Cemetery.

 Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home.
