Jim McConnell in 1902 and 1959
(eds. note: This entire page covers the history of Russian socialism; there is NO personal/Canadian historical information on this page.) force was being overpowered by the allies in the west. As a result. the German cities with their immense factories were being bombed and destroyed. A few months later the German army was retreating and Russian troops followed right into Germany. When Germany surrendered, Russia held all East Germany. and soon after- wards seized power in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Roumania and Hungary. In each country as it fell to Russia. a Communist Government was set up and whether the people liked it or not, they had to follow the course as planned by the Communist Government of Russia. In the years that followed, a Communist army in China has been able to overcome and take over all the mainland of China with her millions of people, and is now under the Communist Government. Now we can see what happened in just a few years and has continued until today when almost half the people of the world are willingly or unwillingly under Communist rule. The people who are under Communist rule as it is today are assured of steady work and wag es, and their children are given a good education. In fact, the children of Communist parents become the wards of the State, and these ruthless dictators at the top who control the country also plan the future of the children. Those who are quick to learn are given a full college education and are taught all the advantages of the Communist way of government; while the slower ones are sent out to work on the farm or given a place in the factories where work has to be done. It really seems that an individual in a Communist State has little or no choice as to w hat he mayor may not do. By their education system. Russia now has many people who are well educated, and by their spy system, and in other ways. the Russians have learned all about the power of the atom, and have used this power to build high explosive bombs. Now Russia, as well as America and other countries, have all provided themselves with sufficient bombs to practically destroy all the great cities of the world. It is said that each great power is studying and practising a system whereby these bombs may be directed and guided in the air so that they may be dropped and exploded on a desired target. If this state of affairs was being carried on in the uneducated and heathen countries, it would indeed be very bad, but here we have the best educated and the most christian people of the world building and preparing for mass murder of the human race. What a world we live in today with one half the world preparing to completely destroy the other half -- and if the order is ever given, then alas -- complete destruction could be carried out in the space of a few hours.
