9. DANIEL GOSSMAN4 NIVEN (DANIEL GOSSMAN3 MACNIVEN, DUNCAN2, MALCOLM1) was born 3/14/1799 in New York City, and died 12/20/1852 in Newburgh, NY. His middle name also appears as "G.", "GROSSMAN," and "Gosman".
Daniel married MARIA MARICES 10/19/1826 in Acquackanonk. She was born ABT 1796, and died 10/28/1880 in Brooklyn, NY. Maria was one of seven children of Jacob Marius Morris and Mary Van Riper [Sylvester, John, Phebe (died age 4), Jacob, Peter, Maria, Phebe]. Her genealogy can be found in "The Bergen Family" (p. 227 et passim.) The family surname was originally MARIUS GROEN, but the second part was dropped and the "Marius" took different forms including Morris, Marius, and Marices; this latter MAY just be a misreading of the others.
