Emergency Telephone Directory 1936
EMERGENCY TELEPHONE DIRECTORY
(All Former STerling Subscribers)
Final Issue
April 5, 1936
The St. Patrick's Day Flood of March 17
and 18, 1936 in which thousands of residents fled in panic
or scrambled to the top floors of homes from the rising
waters, also devastated phone service in many areas.
This was an Emergency phone directory issued April 5,
1936 and used until Jun 7 1936 when the ROckland number was
finally discontinued and Sterling reinstated after the March
36 flood cleanup and STerling Central Office rehabilitation
completion.
ALL Sterling subscribers, and therefore will have at
least O’Hara Township, Sharpsburg, Etna, Aspinwall, Blawnox
and any other locations where the phones had Sterling
exchange.
