Biography of MILES WELLS KIRKPATRICK

 
MILES WELLS KIRKPATRICK, born 1 June 1918 in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania (son of Judge William Huntington Kirkpatrick [1885-1970] and Mary Stewart (Wells)); received his A.B. degree from Princeton University in 1940 and his LL.B. degree from the Univeristy of Pennsylvania Law School in 1943.

Following service in the 11th Armored Division, and later with the Army Air Corps, Mr. Kirkpatrick joined the law office of Morgan, Lewis, and Bockius, Philadelphia, in 1944. He continued this affiliation until his appointment as Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. He was sworn in on 15 September 1970, to succeed Caspar W. Weinberger. Mr. Kirkpatrick resigned as Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission effective 20 February 1973.

He rejoined the law firm of Morgan, Lewis, and Bockius on 1 March 1973.

Mr. Kirkpatrick's memberships include the American, Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia Bar Associations; Union League, Midday (Philadelphia), Princeton, and National Lawyers. He was Chairman of the American Bar Association's section on anti-trust law, in 1968-69, and it's 1969 Commision to study the FTC. Miles Wells Kirkpatrick married Anna Paddock Skerrett on 9 February 1945.

       in the will of John Aeten, of Somerset County, New Jersey, dated 20

       has children, Mary Sebrant, and Eleanor Sebrant."  Lib. D, p. 136]
