The following is from the Revolutionary Pension records taken from National Archive microfilm number M1475.

1. Orphans Court of Frederick County, Maryland Otc Term 1846. At a court
held for Frederick County Oct 285h 1846 satisfactory evidence was
adduced in court to prove that Adam Kephart whose heirs now claim County
land from the United States was in the war of the revolution, was seen
while in service and was known to be deceased and that Barbara Smith,
Mary Kephart, Peter Kephart, Mary Magdalene Wiseman, John Kephart, and
Elizabeth Kephart are the identical and only heirs of said Adam Kephart
deceased.

2. State of Maryland, Frederick County, to wi?. At a court held for
Frederick county, July 27th, 1846. satisfactory evidence was adduced in
court, to prove that Barbara Smith, Mary Kephart, Peter Kephart, Mary
Magdalene Wiseman, John Kephart and Elizabeth Kephart are the identical
and only heirs at law in fee to Adam Kephart late a private in the 2nd
Regiment of the Maryland Line of the Continental Army Commanded by Col
John Grunby.

3. This is a much larger document, but states that Adam Kephart entered
the war in 1778, served as a private in Regiment No. 2, second under
command of Colonel John Grunby, of the Maryland line; and that he
continued in the service until the end of the war.

1840 3rd Dist., Frederick, Maryland 1. Mary M. Wisman pg 184; 2. Peter J. Kephart pg 180 and 12 Smith's listed in this District.

1850 Middleton Elec. Dist, Frederick, Maryland 1. Peter J. Kephart pg 319; 2. Joshua Kephart pg 321; 3. Mary A. Wiseman pg 330 and 34 Smith's living in Middleton.
