ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIPS
Available to anyone
Encouraged for present/former residents, and persons whose roots
are in North Fairfield or Fairfield Township

The North Fairfield Firelands Historical Association and North Fairfield Public Library are housed in the property given by Mr. Charlie D. Harvey to the Village of North Fairfield.  This former Chapman home had been in the Brown-Chapman families for about ninety-five years.  Mrs. Brown erected the original part on her land on Piety Hill, and moved it to its present site where additions were made.  Here four children were born, four deaths occurred, and eight people lived.  What a unique record for one house in the course of nearly a century.
The Historical Association was organized Nov 17, 1943.  it will be devoted to research in local history; acquisition of gifts of historical material for permanent display; and the loan of other interesting things for special exhibits.  All are for the benefit of youth, and the pleasure and profit of the public.
* Taken from the program for the dedication of the Chapman House October 29, 1944.

The Library is now housed in the former Willard United Bank building, and is affiliated with the Willard Memorial Library system.

In 1999, an aggressive program was begun to prevent loss of the Museum and its contents from age and the elements.  As money is available, outside surfaces are being replaced or refurbished; inside walls and ceilings are being replaced.
