Patrick Boyd was married twice. His first marriage was to Rachel Grissom on July 25, 1732, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Chester Co., Pa. From that marriage were born 8 children. His second marriage was bet. 1751-52, Halifax Co., Va., to Ann Douglass*, b. 1725, Halifax Co., Va. From the second marriage were born Richard Boyd on Sept. 9, 1753, and Henry Boyd in 1755. I have not conducted any research on Henry Boyd but have done my line, being that of Richard Boyd. He married Frances Walding/Walden, 1782, in Va. They had 7 children; 5 born in Va. and 2 born in Ga. Richard Boyd died in Jasper Co., Ga. on Sept. 28, 1823.

*Note: Ann Douglass Boyd's second marriage, after the death of Patrick Boyd, was to John Wells. This I was able to confirm by the following: "Halifax County, Virginia Court Orders 1770-1771 (Plea Book No. 7 Part 1)", page 23, "Halifax Orders 1770-1771, August Court, 1770, Nathaniel Terry, Plaintiff, vs. John Wells and Ann, his wife, executrix of Patrick Boyd, deceased, Defendents, In Case. The Defendents having departed this life since last continuance, this suit abates."

I can't find much on the family before their marriages and acquiring their own
properties. They settled on Dan River, where Lawson Creek come in. The Rivers
claimed several lives of the family. Apparently the first family was on their
own before he married a second time. As his will is only to jis second family
or there is error somewhere. Boyd of Boyd Tank p. 19

Patrick if it is the right one. Has records of being a Fur Trader and working
for James Logan. He owed him money and I haven't found record of it corrected.
It could be in another area though.

BOYD'S MOVED TO KENTUCKY

According to the book, "THE BOYDS OF BOYDS TANK", p. 20 the following is given:
"Historical records indicate that certain members of Patrick Boyd's family moved westward to Kentucky. His son Henry by wife Rachel moved to the Logan/Todd County area and descendants of son James settled in Trigg County. Among the Trigg County Boyds were Archibald, his son Samuel and his children Lynn, Archibald, Samuel Jr., and others. Eual Greenwood Holliway, whose mother was a Trigg County Boyd, now living in California supplied valuable Boyd genealogical data. Richard, son by wife Ann, moved to Jasper County, Georgia."
Also, per the aforementioned book, the following names are given as being the children of Patrick Boyd (1710?-1762) and Rachel Grissom who were married in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Chester County, (Pa.) July 25, 1732. Their eight children were named: John, Henry, Patrick Jr., George, James, Polly (Tindall), William and Mary (Tindall). According to Dr. Nathaniel Wooding, historian of Halifax, Virginia, his second marriage was to Ann Douglas of Halifax County about the year 1751. They had two children - Richard (1753) and Henry (1755).
NOTE: Halifax County, Va. was not formed until 1752. Therefore the year of "about 1751" verbally provided by the Halifax County historian can easily be discounted as possibly being the year 1752. Or, they were married in Lunenburg County prior to the formation of Halifax County from Lunenburg County.
Of note is the fact that Patrick Boyd left a nuncupative will dated January 26, 1762 and probated February 18, 1762 in Halifax County, Va. In it he expressed his will and desire that all his stock be sold as well as his personal estate and the money arising from the sale be used to pay his just debts with that left over to "be equally divided between my wife Ann and her two children Richard and Henry and that 80 acres of land belonging to me lying on the north side of Dan River be rented out until the two children above mentioned come to the age of 21 years and then be sold and the money arising by such sale be equally divided between my two sons above mentioned."
So, to answer your question, it certainly appears that the Boyds you mentioned are the same line from George Boyd and Isabella, the immigrants.
