Nancy: I think I can help you out on this one. My records have two similarly
named sons, Albert E. Day (b. 1 Nov. 1864) and his younger brother, Clarence
Edgar Day (b. 2 Mar. 1970). While I have partial names for their wives, one
as Addy and the other as Adda, if your relative died on 6 June 1937, then
we're probably talking about Clarence Edgar Day (in my records; obviously if
you're a descendant you have the better info).
In any event, they were both the sons of James Addison Day and Maria Ellen
Davis, his second wife. James A. was born 7 June 1823 in Bloomfield (now
Bloomingdale), Ohio; Maria was born 13 Jan. 1835, also in eastern Ohio.
Maria was the niece of James's first wife, from whom I am descended, so
there's a common ancestry there. James was the son of Cyrus Day and Mary
Long; Cyrus was born 14 Oct. 1795 (?) in Waynesburg, Greene Co.,
Pennsylvania; Mary "Polly" Long was born 28 Feb. 1796. Cyrus and Mary had 12
children, 10 of which made it to adulthood. James A. and two of his brothers
moved to Iowa in the 1860's. James d. 21 June 1892 of gastritis, in Jackson
Twp., Boone Co., Iowa, and is presumably buried in Linwood Cemetery, as
Maria (d. 28 May 1905) is buried there.
Cyrus Day was the son of Joseph Day and Susannah (no maiden name yet), who
was born we think in Morris Co., N.J., about 1735. He was the son of Daniel
Day, also of Morris Co. We're still working out the verification of some of
this.
The Walcutt family (Maria Ellen Davis's mother was a Walcutt) is well
documented, if you want to go that direction.
Is this enough to start on? Where do you fit in the picture?

Here is what I have on the Day family. You will note that your Edward Day
is most probably my Clarence Edgar Day. He married Addie Browning in March
1896. My branch of the family is related to Lorenzo Ward Day. Lorenzo
married Elsie Hoffman. Elsie was my 2nd great grand-aunt. That is getting
down the line quite a ways! :) Hope this information helps you out. Let
me know what you find out.
