Cornelius Shawgo was a son of John and Eliza Keyes Shawgo and the brother of
Henry Warner Shawgo.
John and Eliza had 13 children: Henry Warner (1828-1881), Margaret Susan
Shawgo Pierson (1829-1911), Susan Shawgo Carter (1831-1901), Catherine Benson
Shawgo Carter (1833-1906), Mary Shawgo Steinbrook Cassidy (1834-?), Martha
Shawgo Porter (1836-?), Cornelius (1838-1881), Louisa (1840-?), Lucetta
Shawgo Horton (1842-1907), John Shawgo (1844-1919), Amanda Shawgo (1845-?),
Eliza Shawgo Howard (1846-1919), and Mecelia Shawgo (1849-?).
John had three brothers: George Ellsworth Shawgo (1798-1862), Peter Shawgo
(1802-1867) and Conrad Shawgo (1804-?), and one sister, Catherine Shawgo
Benson (1808-?). Their mother's name was Peggy and their father might have
been Nicholas but that hasn't been proven as far as I know.
George Ellsworth was my great-great-grandfather. He was a Primitive Baptist
minister and had 18 children by two wives.
