About the time her husband died, Rosina developed an abscess in the groin, and "one can onl y suspect that grief and the cares of family prevented her from taking adequate care of herse lf. She died from exhaustion on the 18th May, 1878, in the Lying In Hospital, Smith Ward, Ci ty of Melbourne - just three and a half months after her husband."
