Notes for ALBERT EUGENE SLAUGHTER:
OBITUARY:
The following was received from Larry Flowers, nephew of Chattie (Flowers) Slaughter, which is presumably
extracted from a local Pike County, Missouri, newspaper:
Mr Slaughter ((Albert Eugene)) was born August 3, 1881 at Frankford ((Pike County, Missouri)) a son of
Joseph and Alice McLeod Slaughter, and attended rural schools and grew to young manhood in the vicinity of
his birth.
In 1914 he was united in marriage to Miss Chattie Flowers, who preceded him to the Great Beyond October
29, 1935. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Slaughter continued to live on a farm, later moving to this city.
He left Bowling Green about ten years ago.
He is survived by seven children; Mrs. Charles ((Hazel)) Powell and Mrs. Charles ((Delphia)) Howell of
Pleasant Hill ((located in Cass County, southeast of Kansas City, Missouri)); Mrs. John ((Florence)) Lowe of
Palm City ((San Diego County)), California; Mrs. Joe ((Helen)) Occhipinto of Kansas City ((Missouri));
Sergeant Lloyd Slaughter, in military service in Germany, and; Melvin and Pauline of the home at Pleasant
Hill. Mr Slaughter is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Clara Walker of Ottumwa ((Wapello County)), Iowa,
two brothers, Jack of Hannibal ((Marion County, Missouri)) and Charles of Kansas City, twelve
grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Attempts were made to have Sergeant Slaughter return home at once, but he did not reach home in time for
the last sad rites for his father.
Mr Slaughter was a faithful member of the Peno Baptist Church and lived true to the teachings of his pastor.
He was a kind friend and neighbor, and the devotion to his home and loved ones is evidenced by the care and
protection he gave to his little children after the passing of their devoted mother, all of whom grew to love and
respect their father for his care. He was, in turn, lovingly and tenderly cared for by those whom he made his
home in the declining years.
His remains were transported to the Bankhead Chapel where they were in state until the hour of services,
which were conducted by Rev. W.D. Miller of Eisinore. Interment was in the Wright Cemetery near
Frankford.
Mr. and Mrs. Flowers of Frankford sang "God Will Take Care Of You," "What a Friend We Have In Jesus"
and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus."
We extend sympathy to the bereaved family members and sorrowing friends.
