The below information is from a monument that was dedicated May 8, 1999 at the Stonewall Jackson Camp #249 near Holliday, Texas. The monument is engraved with the names of 160 Confederate Veterans who attended the annual reunions from 1885 through 1920. The camp was first located 2 miles south of Archer City at Three Forks of the Little Wichita River and in 1897 at the newly purchased camp ground near Holliday. The camp is located 1-1/2 miles south of Holliday (Archer County) on Farm to Market Road 368.

Resolution passed by Stonewall Jackson Camp, #249 
Aug. 13,1897.

Resolved that this camp heartily endorse the histories prepared by Mrs. Susan Pendleton Lee 
and hereby respectfully ask the school board of Archer County to adopt them for use in 
our public Schools ________

for the purpose of Effecting Officers for the Ensuing year.

for their annual Reunion. Two end one half miles East from Holliday station on a tract 
of Land purchased by said Camp for a perminant reunion Camp. After transacting the 
regular Routine Business, Election of officers for the ensuing year being in order

Whereas: A.J. Chitwood and H. King were honored comrades of the Confederacy and 
proved themselves worthy of the great cause which they represented and whereas 
They have been loyal in all things being brave in war and King in peace and whereas 
The great Creator in his wisdom has seen fit to call from our midst our beloved and 
honored Comrades, Then be it resolved; First that we the members of Stonewall Jackson 
Camp #249 U.C.V. Express our feeling of regret for the loss of these Comrades and that 
we extend our Sympathies to their friends and loved ones and that a copy of these 
resolutions be sent to their respective families and that these resolutions 
be spred on the minutes of the Camp.

 Upon motion made and seconded, the following resolutions wore adopted:

Resolve that this Camp render its genuine and heartfelt sympathies to Comrades 
Captain W.M. Fuller and W.P. Skeens in their recent affiliations and express in 
this way their regret that they cannot on account of serious bodily afflictions 
attend this meeting of the Camp.

Resolve that Camp Stonewall Jackson U.C.V. of Archer County has heard with 
profoundest sorrow of the death of Grandma Barbara Farmer so long identified 
with this camp as the Mother of the Camp. Which sad event occurred on July 
the 30th, 1903 at the city of Sherman. Resolve that in consideration of the 
faithful and earnest interest Grand Ma Parmer always took in the affairs of 
the Camp. It is ordered that the Adjutant of this Camp to record this resolution 
upon a single page set apart for that purpose in the records of the camp.

Resolve that papers of Archer City, Wichita Falls, and Ardmore be requested 
to publish these resolutions.

U.C.V. was Lee's messenger boy during war with Lee when he surrendered. (???)

We Your Committee Appointed to draft resolutions expressing our sentiments toward our 
late Captain, Comrade Allen H. Parmer who has presided over us so well for the last six 
years beg leave to present the following resolutions.
Resolved 1st That we deeply regret the removal of our Comrade from our midst and that 
he has made us during his long period of service a most faithful and efficient officer. 
Resolved 2nd That the best wishes of the Stonewall Jackson Camp will follow him and his 
estimable family in their new home trusting that he and they may always return to the old 
encampment and cheer us by their presence their council and assistance in our future 
annual Reunions.

Stonewall Jackson Camp #249 U.C.V. met on Reunion Ground August 20, 21, and 22, 1902 the 
time set apart for this annual encampment. After transacting business (regular routine), 
Election of Officers for the ensuing year was being in order, the following was elected (To-wit)

Capt. John Ground and Capt. W.M. Fuller was placed in nomination for Captain of said Camp. 
W.M. Fuller having received a majority of votes was declared elected Captain for ensusing year.

August 1906       Memorandum J.E. Rayborn 
On the 5th day of July 1906 Comrade J.E. Rayborn age 76 yrs. of Co. B, 23d Ala Confederate Army 
answered the last Roll Call and past to the realms of the unseen to await the grand reunion of 
the grandest Army of which we have no record since the days of Washington.
Be it resolved 1st that in the death of Comrade Rayborn, Stonewall Jackson Camp No. 249 has 
lost an efficient member, the Country a loyal citizen, the Community a loyal Christian gentleman, 
and the family a loving and kind father.
Resolved that a copy of these resolutions be furnished the family of Deceased and our copy to the 
Confederate Veteran for publication and also to the Archer Dispatch. Five days after the death of 
Comrade Rayborn passed out the beautiful life of Mary (Anne) C. his wife who was a regular attendant 
at our annual reunions and took great interest in them.

Comrade J.C. Tidwell
Member Co. P 15th Texas Inf. departed this life 28th day of March 1906 Age 65 years.
Resolved that in the death of Comrade J.C. Tidwell, Stonewall Jackson Camp No. 249 has lost a 
faithful and devoted Comrade, the Country a loyal citizen, the Community a devoted and friend 
and neighbor.
Resolved that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the Confederate Veteran for publication 
also to the Archer Dispatch, and a copy to the family.

Comrade P.F. Snider Member of Co.A 1st Tenn, Cav. departed this life on the 8th day of March 1906. 
Age 68 years. Resolved that in the death of Comrade, Stonewall Jackson Camp No.249 has lost a faithful 
and devoted Comrade, this Country a good citizen.
Resolved that a copy of these resolutions be furnished the Confederate Veteran and Archer Dispatch for 
publication and also a copy of same be furnished the bereaved family.

of said Memorials be furnished the families or relations of said Deceased Comrades.

No other business appearing the Camp adjourned until our next annual Reunion.

It was moved and carried that Comrade J.W. Johnson have lease of our Reunion Ground until 
the 1st of May 1910 for the sum of $30.00.
