Prairie Branch Cemetery is located 5 1/2 miles north of
Newport, Montague Co., Texas on Highway 59.

At the entrance is a large granite stone which reads:
"In memory of George and Maggie Jarrell
Whose generosity made possible
the perpetual fund for the up-keep
of this cemetery."
The oldest grave is Lee Mays, 1871.
The rows were read from South to North.
