THE BROWN STORY

THE BROWNS SAIL TO AMERICA

(1)Abraham BROWN

Abraham was born before 1620 at England and he died 1650 at Windsor, CT.. Abraham Browne: According to Charles Edward Banks in his book "The Winthrop Fleet of 1630", Abraham came to America with the 600 to 700 souls that made the trip in 1630. He probably arrived about June of that year, and debarked in Massachusetts near the Massachusetts Bay Colony and settled for a time in Watertown, Mass. He was sworn in as a FREEMAN in Boston, 6 Mar. 1631/32. It would probably be appropriate to assume that Abraham and his family came with the HOOKER migration of 1635 to the Hartford vicinity in Connecticut. Records, although scant, appear in Windsor and Farmington Connecticut archives.

Abraham married Elizabeth(Lydia) probably in Watertown soon after his arrival. His wife, according to Mr. Banks was named Lydia, and they were reported to have had 2 children before the end of 1632.
