According to a story in "Ohio Valley Richmonds, Their Kith & Kin" by Briggs & Finnicum, pp 58 & 59, "Henry Garner had quite a temper and shot and killed a neighbor by the name of Dunham. He served 'time' for his crime. Later he returned to his farm where he lived until his death.

Lewis died at the home of his sister Della Garner. He had went to Texas to work in the oil fields and came back home for a visit when he was suddenly struck down with a heart attack.
Tombstone has his name spelled Louis but Linda Goddard Stout corresponded with Lewis' sone, Darl, and he advised that it was spelled Lewis as he was named after Lewis Wetzel.
