Her obituary appeared 13 October 1948 in the The Daily Herald, published in Biloxi, Mississippi. Miss Carrie Mathews Rites -- Funeral services for Miss Carrie W. Mathews, 71, who was killed Tuesday morning when struck by a train at a Gulfport L&N crossing were held this morning at nine o'clock at Riemann's Chapel. Dr. Henry M. Bullock. pastor of First Methodist Church, and Rev. Joe D. Odle, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery with S. A. Tomlinson, J. C. Ross, A. C. Hutto, E. J. Vigour, J. B. Pilsbury and W. A. McDonald acting as pallbearers.
