Grover Samuel Hunt
     Grover Samuel HUNT, son of Jesse Samuel HUNT and Barbara Cornelia ESCO, was born on 16 January 1919 in Autauga County, Alabama.1

Grover was registered for the draft during World War II on 16 October 1940 while living in Prattville, Autauga County, Alabama. He was 21 years old and a farmer. It listed his father Jesse Samuel Hunt as his contact person. He was discribed as a white male, 6 ft. 1 inch tall, 155 lbs., with gray eyes, black hair and a ruddy complexion. His residence was at 13 Clanton Park in Montgomery.2 He died on 2 April 1945 in Hollandia, Papua New Guinea, at age 26. Sgt. Hunt was killed in a vehicle accident. He had served 34 months in the South Pacific with the 104th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. He had just returned to his company after a 30 day leave at home. Surviving in addition to his father are his widow, the former Margaret McGlamry, of Deatsville and Montgomery; three brothers, J. E. and A. E., Montgomery; Pvt. Alfred R. Hunt, Fort McClellan, and one sister, Miss Jeffie Hunt, Prattville.3 He was buried in Pine Level Cemetery, Autauga County.
