Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Bowen
     Mary Elizabeth Bowen, daughter of Seth Green Bowen and Ila Minerva Bowen, was born on 27 March 1859 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.1 She was also known as Betsy.

Mary married George Washington WEAVER, son of Zachariah WEAVER and Sarah Vaughn, on 8 March 1877 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. They married at the home of Milton J. and Minerva Moses, the bride's mother and stepfather. She was the daughter of Seth Green Bowen and Ila Minerva Bowen, who were cousins.1

Mary Elizabeth Bowen filed for divorce from George Washington WEAVER on 18 May 1880 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. They separated 19 Aug 1877. She alligned abuse.2

Mary Elizabeth Bowen appeared on a census, enumerated 16 June 1880, in the household of Milton Moses, her stepfather, and her mother, Manerva Bowens Moses, in Beat 15, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. Milton Moses, 49, a farmer born in Tennessee; his wife, Minerva Moses, 54, born Alabama; M. H. Moses [Mary E.?], daughter, 21, single, help about home; H. M. [Helen] Moses, daughter, 12; and Hallace [Hollis] Moses, son, age 10, helps on farm.

Mary Elizabeth Bowen died on 23 August 1898 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, at age 39. She was buried in Enterprise Cemetery, Vance, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.
