William Marshall BURT I bought a tract of land from Richard BURT on 30 December 1846 in Muskogee County. Indenture between Richard Burt "of the City of Columbus"... "and his son Wm. M. Burt of the county of Troup," "For natural love & affection I have and bear to my son Wm. M. Burt" for $5.00 2 slaves-- David, about 12, and Omic(?), about 10. Wit: John J. McKendree, JP.5

Living next door was his cousing William Washington Burt.1

William Marshall BURT I was listed as William Washington BURT's and Jane Ellizabeth LESEUR's neighbor in a census on 1 June 1860 in in Salem, Russell County, Alabama. Living with him was his wife, Amanda, and two sons.8

On 2 July 1860 William Marshall died in Salem, Lee County, Alabama, at age 41 leaving Amanda D. a widow.9,7 He was buried in Methodist Church Cemetery, Salem, Lee County, Alabama.
