George Washington Abney 1839-1914 and Elizabeth Jane Chandler Abney
     George Washington ABNEY, son of Benjamin Hezekiah ABNEY and Elizabeth Hogan, was born on 10 March 1839 in Cobb County, Georgia.1

George married Elizabeth Jane Chandler on 2 February 1860 in Calhoun County, Alabama.1

George began military service at age 22 in May 1861 in Oak Level, Alabama, as a private in Company I of the 25th Alabama Infantry. He was wounded in action at Murphreesboro, Tennessee.

George Washington ABNEY died on 23 April 1914 in Mineral Springs, Jefferson County, Alabama, at age 75.1 He was buried in Friendship United Methodist Chruch Cemetery, Gardendale, Jefferson County, Alabama.
