ARRIVAL OF THE WAITARA
The Star November 11th 1874

The ship seen by the s.s. Ladybird, on Tuesday, off Akaroa Heads, proved to be this vessel. The Waitara was signalled this morning, and came up to an anchorage off Rhodes Bay at 8 o'clock. The vessel brings no immigrants, only a number of passengers whom are several old colonists; and has on board a number of sheep, also two cows, and they have arrived in excellent condition; they were shipped by Mr Larkworthy. The voyage (82 days from land to land) appears to have been a very pleasant one, no sickness occurring during the passage. The ship has a large cargo, and comes consigned to the New Zealand Shipping Company.
