| I beg to announce to you that the ship "Duchess of Argyle" from Greenock to Auckland with Government Immigrants arrived in the bay of Auckland on the 9th day of October and that the following is a correct statement of the number of Immigrants embarked in Greenock the number of deaths and births on board during the voyage and the number now landed in Auckland. | |||||

The majority of the Emigrants have conducted themselves during the voyage to my satisfaction - both as regards regularity, order and cleanliness of the ship - and attended to the rules and regulations established on board. Dr Boyten & Lieutenant Kemans have appointed twelve men as acting sub-constables with our head constable whose names are as follows: James Lockhead, head constable, Peter Ferguson, Robert Fudhope, John Bell, John Barr, Alexander Frazer, James McIntosh (jnr), William Smith, James Robertson, John Robertson, William Wilson, Thomas McAllister and Robert Crawford. Archibald Wallace & J W McIntosh Snr - Schoolmasters. Three female hospital assistants. The people have discharged their respective duties to my full satisfaction and I therefore recommend them for their gratuities which I think they justly merit. I have also to recommend the Captain and mates for their respective gratuities having in all instances during the voyage afforded me their aid and co-operation and acted kindly towards the people under my charge - the following are the names viz; Robert Faith (Commander) - John Phillips (First Mate) - John McLean (Second Mate) - Richard Spurrier (Third Mate) = The foregoing are the particulars as regards the ship - "Duchess of Argyle" |
