LINES family:
Thomas Lines (born 1803) of Maidford, Northamptonshire, England had been first married to a Sarah Jones who died in 1833. Thomas then married an Ann Blackwell. Thomas and Ann with the surviving children of Thomas’ marriage to Sarah; Eliza (married in Nelson April 1843 at which James & Mary Marshall of this vessel were witnesses), John and Benjamin together with Thomas and Ann’s surviving children Elizabeth and William, travelled on the Thomas Harrison’s voyage to Nelson. A child Thomas Harrison Lines was born during the voyage but was to drown in 1859. Eight further children were born at Nelson. Thomas and Ann remained in Nelson Province until their deaths. Thomas was accompanied by his brother Benjamin (born 1805) and his wife Elizabeth Watts and children Benjamin, Sarah Ann, Leah and John. One further child was born in New Zealand. Elizabeth died at Nelson in 1868 and Benjamin shifted to Christchurch where he remarried and died there in 1895. Any descendants of these families please contact Colin Lines
