A fellow researcher, Fay Dobson when she lived in Taree NSW was aware of a distant relative who was moving house who lived somewhere out the back of Wingham NSW. She believed that these people would probably be inclined to throw out a number of items and so went to visit them during the move.
One of the things Fay found sitting in a pile beneath a tree was this baby photo. The photo itself is glued to a cardboard mounting. Notated on the back of the mounting are the words "Owen Copy" with the number "1703".
Thanks to Annie Waide for identifying the baby who was Mary E Goold (b.1857), daughter of John Goold and Margaret Keyte (b.1840 Canada). John and Margaret were married in 1885. They are indirectly related to the Owen family. Margaret Keyte had a sister, Alice Anne Keyte who was married to John Thomas Hudson. John Thomas' brother, Francis Hudson married Mary Jean Smith who was a step-sister to John Owen.

This photo comes from (I 9) Betty Owen/Kings's photo albums. On the back is the photo developer's stamp (Sun Print - very common at the time) and a reference number (F749). Handwritten on it are the words "A Picnic Group at Casula, Xmas 1928". Betty herself would have only just turned 10 years old at the time of the photo so she is definitely not one of the people in it. The registration plate on the car, 150-606 is a NSW plate.

This photo comes from (I 9) Betty Owen/Kings's photo albums. On the back is the photo developer's stamp (Sun Print - very common at the time) and a reference number (F12). This is all that is known.

This photo comes from (I 9) Betty Owen/Kings's photo albums. There is nothing on the back. The nursing sister (in red cape) is holding what is probably a graduation certificate. When the picture is enlarged it can be seen that there are three names on it and the middle name could possibly be Mary.

This is possibly a photo of Selina Arnold (I 41). Can anybody confirm this?

This photo came from the belongings of researcher Vicki Crowther's great aunt when she passed away. From other photos, the man in front on the left could possibly be John Williams Burley which would possibly make the woman in front on the right his wife Sarah (nee Partridge). Whether or not it is them, the identities of the others in the photo is unknown and help in identifying them is sort. John and Sarah had two boys and six girls plus a granddaughter they raised as their own but that mix of two boys and seven girls doesn't explain the composition of the others in the picture.

This photo also came from the belongings of researcher Vicki Crowther's great aunt when she passed away and it is felt that the photo is to do with the Burley family. On the back it has written "To dear Jack, With love Kate and Jim" and there is a Tenterfield stamp on the back. The babies would suggest the birth of triplets to presumably Kate and Jim. Vicki suggests it may be on the McCosker side of the family. Vicki's great grandmother Rebecca Louisa Burley married James Joseph McCosker. While James would fit for the Jim, it's hard to see Rebecca or Louisa fitting for Kate.

This image shows the front and back of a picture found among the possessions of Dorothy O'Neil (nee Collins). Because of the comments on the back it appears to be related to Harry and Flo Collins. The photo was processed by the Jones Murray-Vale Studio in Waikerie SA. The wording (which appears to be written in Flo's hand) says "To Eileen with Best wishes From Flo and Harry. May 1950. S. Australia. Bubners or Bubrers Taken 1943 Sydney N.S.Wales". Could Bubners or Bubrers be the surname of the couple in the photo? It's not known. The identity of Eileen is totally unknown. Any information regarding this photo would be gratefully received.

Received a reply from pgraham158 (Deb) on the Mundia site as follows : "Hi Owen, Re unidentified people on a photo on your website concerning the name BUBNER. I looked on NSW BDM for a BUBNER marriage and found this: 33023 / 1942 HARRY GEORGE BUBNER to FLORENCE CORAL SAUNDERS, REDFERN NSW. Obviously the "Harry and Flo" referred to on the inscription are this couple, not Harry and Flo Collins. Hope this info helps, Regards, Deb

Partridge Family Unidentified Photos

This photo came from the Port Macquarie Historical Museum. The museum was given a group of photos in the 1960s and were told that they were pictures of members of the Partridge family but the identity of the people in the photos was unknown.

This photo came from the Port Macquarie Historical Museum. It was taken by the A. Chandler Studios. A search of the internet found this information supplied by the Dictionary of Australian Artists Online. Chandler worked at various times in the Tamworth and Armidale districts. Members of the Partridge family are known to have been in the Walcha (near Tamworth) and Armidale areas.

This photo came from the Port Macquarie Historical Museum and is a duplicate of the photo above but without the A. Chandler Studios logo on the bottom.

The right-hand photo came from the Port Macquarie Historical Museum while the left-hand one came from researcher Kerrie Bayliss who believes they are the same people. Reference to other people produces split opinions about whether they are the same. Your view would be most welcome.

This photo came from the Port Macquarie Historical Museum and is part of the Partridge collection. It was taken by C. V. Keys studio. No information on this studio has been found.
