Reception of the Remains of Colonel Baker in this City
FUNERAL OBSEQUIES, &c.

The honors which are due to the memory of a brave hero were yesterday paid to the remains of the late Colonel E. D. BAKER, who fell at the head of his command, the California Brigade, while gallantly leading them into the recent battle at Ball's Bluff. [...]

The two regiments of Home Guards had proceeded but a short distance on their march towards the Baltimore depot, when they were met by a battalion (comprising 450 men) of Colonel GREGORY's Regiment, which is now encamped at Camp Chase, Col. GREGORY being in command.

The procession--which was now formed in the following order:--1. Colonel GREGORY's battalion; 2. First Regiment of Home Guards; 3 Second Regiment of Home Guards--moved down Broad street to the Baltimore depot, where Company A, of the Second Regiment, under the command of Captain BARNEY, marched into the depot, while the remainder of the military were formed into line on the east side of Broad street, facing the entrance to the depot.

Company A has been detailed as the Guard of Honor, and will remain on duty until the departure of the remains from this city for New York. This company turned out 72 men in all, and presented a very fine appearance.

The drum corps belonging to Colonel GREGORY's regiment were also in the parade preceding the first division of the Home Guard Brigade band, who left their positions in the First Regiment and stationed themselves in front of Colonel GREGORY's command.

A large crowd of people awaited, not only the arrival of the military procession, but also the remains of Colonel BAKER.
