91st PA--recruiting in August 1862

Recruits for Philadelphia

['Recruits for Philadelphia', Philadelphia Inquirer 28 August 1862, page 3 (reprinted on 29 August 1862 page 6)]

RECRUITS FOR PHILADELPHIA

Regiments in Active Service in the Field--Recruits wanted for the old regiments from Philadelphia--cavalry, artillery and infantry. Bounties for all other regiments have ceased. The following bounties are now paid, cash in hand, before the recruit leaves the city:--

By the Government--Bounty ... $25
and a "premium" for each recruit offering ...4
The Citizens' Bounty Fund pay to each recruit ...50
and an additional "premium" of ...6
 ---
 $85

These liberal "bounties" and "premiums" will be paid at once for all "able-bodied, effective men," between the ages of 18 and 45.

The draft will surely take place on September 3d, 1862; there remains but one week, then, to secure these bounties.

Your fellow citizens appeal to you from the battle-field to reinforce these veteran and well-officered regiments. Shall they appeal in vain?

Come forward NOW, and select not only the regiment in which you wish to serve, but the particular company in which your comrades are, instead of waiting to be drafted without these privileges.
