General Orders No 75

Before a General Court Martial of Which Lieut Col. J. Steadman 42nd Mass. Vols is President Convened at Alexandria Va. on Thursday September 13th /64 By Virtue of General Order No 51. Dated Hd Qurs. Military Governer [sic] Alexandria Va. September 12th 1864 Where [sic] arrainged [sic] and tried.

(43) Dennis McCarty Comp "E." 91st Penna Vols. on the following Charge and Specification

Charge - "Desertion"

Specification in this: that Pvt. Dennis McCarty Comp. "E." 91st Penna Vol been [sic] duly enlisted in the military Service of the U.S. did without proper authority absent himself from his Company and Regt. and so remain untill [sic] apprehended in (Citizens [sic] Clothing) on or about the 24th of January 64. At Philadelphia. Pa. this at falmouth Va on or about the 6th of May 63. to which charge and Specification the prisoner. Dennis McCarty Comp "E." 91st Penna Vols pleaded to the

Specification . . . (Guilty)
Charge . . . Not (Guilty)

Findings. the Court having mutually Considered the evidence adduced finds him Dennis McCarty Comp "E." 91st Penna Vol as follows.

Of the Specification = Guilty
Of the Charge - Guilty

Sentence = The Court Does therefore sentence him Dennis McCarty Comp "E." 91st Penn Vols. to Be Returned to his Regt. under Gaurd [sic] for Duty With Loss of all pay and allowances now Due and to forfeit ten Dollars ($10) per month Of his monthly pay for fifteen months and to make Good all time Lost By Desertion.
