In 1865, the 91st participated in the final series of battles that led to Lee's surrender at Appomattox Court House.

After another raid on the Weldon Railroad in January, and remaining in camp in February, the regiment participated in battles at Dabney's Mill and Gravelly Run in March. In April, they fought at Five Forks (where brevet brigadier general Gregory earned a promotion to brevet Major General), Sailor's Creek, and, finally Appomattox. The 91st was one of the regiments that received the arms of Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. In May, they marched to Washington, participated in the grand review. They received men from the 118th Pennsylvania in June, and were mustered out in July.
