I have the honor to submit the following report called for in the case of Zachariah A Schaffer Co F 91st Regt P.V.V. I learn from Sergt. Hause of that Company (the Captain being absent on leave) that this man was sent to this Regiment along with a Detachment of One Hundred Drafted men and Substitutes on the 14th day of Oct. 1864, as a Drafted man from the 16th Dist of Penna, and was assigned to Co F on the 15th of that month. He was sent to the Div. Hospital on the 21st day of Oct. 65 [sic], and has never been with the Regiment since that time

Charge 1st. Disobedience of Orders

Specification 1st that Capt Joseph Gilbert Co "C" 91st Regt P.V.V., when ordered by the Commanding Officer of the Regiment, Lieut. Col Eli G. Sellers, to take Command of Co F in the first division of the Regiment, while on Parade for Review, he the said Capt Joseph Gilbert, did not obey the order but did say in a very disrespectful manner, that there was some God damn funny things agoing on here.

Charge 2nd Contempt and disrespect towards his Commanding Officer

Specification 1st In this that Capt Joseph Gilbert did when ordered by his Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Eli G. Sellers, to take command of a Comp. in first Division of his Regiment behave in a very disrespectful manner and say that there was some God damn funny things agoing on here

This at or near Hatchers Run Va on or about the 16th day of March 1865
