Respectfully forwarded, Priv. J. Crazier [??] was assigned to this Regt as a deserter from the draft. According to the Statement of Capt. Patterson who had charge of the detachment, and that of the man himself, the Remarks opposite his name on the Roll are those reffering [sic] to the name next his, who was reported as a deserter from a Cav. Regt. but who subsequently proved to be a deserter from the draft. The Man also states that he was sent from dismounted Camp into the Valley at the time of Early's Raid and finding himself near home left and was arrested on the Route as a deserter and sent to Carlisle Barracks
