In 1880, he was living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was living with his wife Violetta, his sons Thomas, John, and Samuel, and Samuel's family. He was a carpenter, but had been unemployed for 12 months in the previous year. [source: 12]
On 26 September 1880, he died, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He died of congestion of the brain. He was married, and his occupation was box making.
