Daniel McGuckin

Before the war

He was born in 1817/18 (2 (43 in 1861), 3 [64 in ? 1867], 4 [45?? in 1870]). He was born in Ireland (3, 4).

During the war

He was enlisted and mustered into service, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 15 October 1861 (1, 2, 6). He was mustered in as a private in company I (1, 2, 7).

He was discharged on 20 August 1862 on surgeon's certificate of disability (1 [20 Aug], 2 [30 Aug], 6 [20 Aug]). He had served for ten months (3). He was a private, in company I (7).

After the war

On 31 January 1863, he applied unsuccessfully for a pension (5, 6).

On 15 March 1867, he was admitted to the National Soldiers Home (3). He had rheumatism, but was not receiving a pension (3).

In 1870, he was living in the Central Branch of the National Soldiers Home, in Montgomery County, Ohio (4). He was a laborer (4).

He died on 1 February 1879, at the Central Branch of the National Soldiers Home (3).
