The 1850 and 1860 censuses have two main candidates for Robert Anderson: one (apparently) born to Samuel and Elizabeth Anderson, and another (apparently) born to John and Jane Anderson and working as a carpenter's apprentice in 1860. The fact that the Robert Anderson who served in the 91st was a carpenter when he enlisted suggests that he is the latter. He is also listed in the 1860 census as Robert R. I have therefore tentatively identified him as my Robert.
