Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 4 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, grey eyes, and light hair. [source: 2]

During the war

He was a substitute. He enlisted and was mustered into service on 24 March 1865. He was enlisted for one year, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, by Captain Eyster. He was a private in company C. [sources: 1, 2, 8, 9, 10]
