Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 10 inches tall, and had a light complexion, grey eyes, and dark hair (5).

During the war

He also served in company D of the 114th Pennsylvania Infantry (8, 9, 10).

He also served as a Landsman on the USS Wabash, Wyandotte, and Ohio (8, 9, 10).

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 9 or 10 February 1864 (1 [9 Feb], 5 [10 Feb], 9 [10 Feb]). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Shipley (5). He was mustered in by Lieutenant Burke (5). He was a private in company D (1, 11).

On 1 March 1864, Colonel Gregory detached him to collect conscripts, at Philadelphia (2). He returned from detached service on 16 April 1864 (6).

He deserted from hospital on 19 August 1864 (1, 4, 9). He owed $23.25 for his gun and accoutrements (4).

On 27 March 1865, the regiment dropped him as a deserter (7). He was a private, in company D (11).

After the war

On 30 September 1863, he applied successfully for a pension (8, 9).

He received a pension under the Act of 27 June 1890 (10).

He again applied for a pension on 4 March 1907, under the Act of 6 February 1907 (9, 10). He received $12 per month, effective 4 March 1907; the certificate was dated 28 September 1908 (10).

His pension certificate was reissued, and he received $16.50 per month, effective 24 May 1912; the certificate was dated 23 November 1912 (10).

On 15 June 1914, he died (10).
