Before the war

He was born in 1838/40 (2 (21 in 1861)).

During the war

He also served in company D of the 49th Pennsylvania Militia Infantry (4).

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 27 August 1861 (1, 2). He enlisted at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2). He was mustered in as a private, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2). He was a private in company C (1, 5).

He was not accounted for when the regiment mustered out (1, 5 (pvt in C)).

After the war

On 20 September 1899, his widow, Emma Casey, applied unsuccessfully for a pension, from Pennsylvania (3, 4).
