Henry C Chitlick

Before the war

He was born in 1825/26 (2 (35 in 1861), 5 (35 in 1861)). He was born in Tyrone, Ireland (5).

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 3-3/4 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, blue eyes, and sandy hair (5). He had a shield, with 'Liberty' [?] above it, and 'H R' below it, on his right arm (5).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 11 October 1861 (1, 2, 5, 6). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Keyser (2, 5, 6). He was mustered in as a private, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2). He was a private, in company B (1, 11, 12).

He was transferred to company C (1, 2).

He was wounded in the leg on 3 May 1863 at Chancellorsville, Virginia (1, 8, 9, 10 [leg]). On 7 May 1863, he was reported missing in action (2).

He died of delirium tremens on 8 March 1864, at Warrenton Junction, Virginia (1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7). He was a private, in company C (11, 12).
