He was discharged on 16 April 1862 on surgeon's certificate of disability, at Washington DC (1, 2, 3). He was a private, in company E (4).
Bates has two entries for James Claville, both enlisted on 26 October 1861. The one in company I was not on the muster-out roll, while the one in company E was officially discharged. The index to the compiled service records (source 4) confirms that they are the same person.
