Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 7 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, dark grey eyes, and black mixed [?] hair (4). He had scars on his right cheek and over his left eye (4).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 14 September 1861 (1, 4, 5). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Starr (4, 5). He was a private in company C (1, 6).

He was discharged on 12 February 1863 on surgeon's certificate of disability, at Falmouth, Virginia (1, 2, 3, 5). He was a private, in company C (6).
