Before the war

During the war

He was drafted (1, 3). He enlisted and was mustered into service on 11 March 1865 (1, 3, 4, 5). He was mustered in as a private, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania (3). He was a private in company B (1, 11).

He may have been charged for lost equipment, perhaps when the regiment mustered out (2).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 3, 4, 5). He was a private, in company B (11).

After the war

At some point, probably about 1872, he made a statement supporting William Bowman's application for a pension (6).

In 1872 to 1874, he married Mary [unknown family name] (7, 9). In 1900, she had had eight children, all of whom were alive (9).

In 1880, he was living in Somerset, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (10). He was living with his wife Mary, his children Walter, George, and Emma, and Lincoln Rhodes (his son??) (10). He was a farmer (10).

On 2 October 1885 or 1886, he successfully applied for a pension (5, 8).

In 1890, he was living in Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (4). He had ague (4).

In 1900, he was living in Quemahoning Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (9). He was living with his wife Mary, six children, and one grandchild (9). He was a farmer (9).

In 1910, he was living in Quemahoming Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (7). He was living with his wife Mary (7). He was a laborer, doing odd jobs, and had been out of work for 20 weeks in 1909 (7).

He died on 28 [?] December 1928 [?], at Stoyerstown, Pennsylvania (5).
