Before the war

Description

When he enlisted, he was 5 feet 2-5/8 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, hazel eyes, and brown hair (3).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 12 January 1864 (1, 2, 3, 5). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Stretch (3). He was a private in company A (1, 8, 9, 10).

He mustered out on 10 July 1865 with his company (1, 2, 3, 5). He had served for eighteen months (8, 9). He was a private, in company A (10).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in the 18th ward of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (6). He was a glassblower (6). He was living with his wife Emma (6).

In 1880, he was living at 1022 Otis Street, 18th ward, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (7). He was a glassblower (7). He was living with his wife Emma and daughter Fannie (7).

In 1890, he was living at 605 North 6th Street, Camden, New Jersey (5). He reported no disability (5).

He applied successfully from New Jersey for a pension on 2 April 1891 (2, 4). He applied again on 19 February 1907 (2).

On 22 January 1916, he was admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers (9).

In 1916, he was present at the Southern Branch of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers (8). He was receiving a pension of $21.50 per month (8).

In 1919, he was present, at the Central Branch of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers (9). He was receiving a pension of $21.50 per month (9).

He died on 6 December 1928 at the National Soldiers' Home, in Virginia (2).
