He enlisted and was mustered into service on 10 February 1864 (1, 3). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Shipley (3). He was mustered in as a private in company H, by Lieutenant Boorke (1, 5).

He deserted on 2 March 1864 at Chester, Pennsylvania (1, 2). He was dropped from the rolls as a deserter on 22 July 1864 (4). He was a private, in company H (5).
